Blogging
an announcement of an intent to weblog. 2025-02-19
Blogs are fascinating. A kind of workhorse of the Internet as we know it today. Not all blogs are for me, but when I come across one that I like I’ll stick to it like dried-out pasta to the bottom of a pot.
Personally, I’ve never kept one. The blogosphere of years gone-by was not my era. But I’ve been feeling interested to try it out. There’s a kind of feeling in the air, a resurgence of blogs. Perhaps people just have a lot to say in the current moment and all the previous podiums from which to stand and shout have turned out to be rickety rusty-nailed rotten clapboards, ready to swallow a writer of words whole.
So here it is, my announcement of an intention to start a blog. Hopefully with some regularity and maintenance, but not too much.
Other places of words I’ve been enjoying as of recent:
- V Buckenham’s newly started blog ranges around topics and the words are great
- Tom MacWright’s blog is good, but what I’ve particularly been enjoying is the more focused and smaller snippets of his /micro subsection
- Nika’s posts are surprising, occasionally going really hard on the hardware side of things, but without ever turning boring
- Matt Webb’s excellent blog Interconnected—though it has been a bit too much focused on the ai hype cycle the past couple of years
- Rek’s journal is a blog of a different type, with periodic dispatches of adventures, links, pieces of lovely art drawn by the author, mentions of media, and well-chosen words
Okay! That’s it for the first entry of 2025!!
